From where do you receive your creative inspiration?
Honestly, everywhere. Lately, I’ve been turning to design web sites and blogs. Before that it was magazines, phonebooks, greeting cards or anything else I could get my hands on. There is so much we can learn from others, designers or not.
The best thing about working for a small company?
I think the best thing about working for a small company is the people within. We are able to work in a creative, yet professional environment. We are also able to learn from each other in work and non-work related ways.
An average day:
I like to wake up fairly early in the morning, sometimes for no reason in particular. When the weather is nice, I try to squeeze in a walk with my dog before work. It’s a great way to start the day! My “work day” usually consists of a little of everything. I’m a designer at heart, but I also dabble in programming, and some of my favorite work is usability testing. I get to take what we do and see how it succeeds in the “real world.” It’s an exciting experience. After work, I can be found doing arts and crafts projects or baking. I also love being outside; I like to garden, wakeboard and run.
Education
I majored in Graphic Design and minored in Public Relations at the University of Northern Iowa.
One thing you cannot live without:
My husband. He catches mice and kills spiders for me.
Dogs or cats?
Dogs! If I had the time, money and resources I would like to do something to help the lives of dogs and their humans. Until that day comes, I will continue spoiling the dog I have. :)
Theme Song:
“Wannabe” by the Spice Girls. Girl power!
Zoo giraffe or wild giraffe? Why?
My initial answer to this question was a wild giraffe. The things I could see and do as a wild animal do not compare to those of a caged one. With that being said, I once saw a picture of a giraffe trying to drink water out of a lake or pond. It looked painful because it was so tall! It is still up for debate, but I think I am changing my answer to a zoo giraffe. Maybe a little TLC wouldn’t be that bad…
Favorite meal:
I don’t have one favorite meal. My favorite types of meals are ones that are home cooked. I also have a weakness for Italian food.
Weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten:
I honestly don’t eat too many weird things. I do like some food combinations that may be considered “weird.” One of my favorites is chicken strips dipped in ice cream.
You can’t get enough:
Chocolate milk. If it had the nutrition content of water, I would drink it for every meal.
Just say no to:
Cottage cheese! Ugh, just thinking about it gives me the creeps.
Something that makes you unique:
I have run a marathon and lived to tell about it. :) I know this doesn’t make me unique to the world, but it is still something I’m proud of.
Oddly, you love:
I love football! Football season is my favorite time of the year.
Pet peeve?
Tardiness. Most everyone lives busy lives, so when we ask to share each other’s time I think it’s only right to respect it and be on time!
Most useless skill?
I will one day be skilled at beatboxing.
